Leagues are the backbone of the Community Premodern Series. Running every month, these events enable players to compete in six matches against other Premodern Webcam League players on their own schedule. Matches are found on the Premodern Discord in the Premodern Webcam League channel and reported on Gatherling.
Because Leagues use an open matchmaking system, you are free to find matches on your own time. For some players, this meanings fitting all their matches in during a free afternoon; for others, this means spreading their matches out across the two weeks of the league. Leagues allow you to play at your own pace.
At the conclusion of the League, the top 8 players battle it out for the title of Monthly League Champion.
Wins earned during Leagues contribute to your Season Ladder rank, which determines participation in the Season Championship.
To participate in Leagues you need
A Discord Account
Access to the Premodern Discord
A Gatherling Account
(For details, see "Getting Started with the CPS")
League sign-ups take place on Gatherling, and the current League can be found under "Active Events."
Registration for Monthly Leagues opens on first of each month. Leagues begin on the 7th of each month and conclude at the month's end.
Players may join a league at any time during a league's duration
Players must register their deck on Gatherling prior to playing their first match
Players may change their registered deck prior to their first match by contacting a League Moderator
Players may play up to six (6) matches in each league; each match must be against a unique opponent
Matches must be arranged on the Premodern Discord in the Premodern Webcam League channel using the @PWLtag.
Matches may be played over any video conferencing platform, including Discord, Zoom, Whereby, or Spelltable.
All matches are best two out of three
Proxies are allowed for Premodern Webcam League matches, but should be clearly legible.
Winners are responsible for reporting their win on Gatherling immediately after the match (Match reporting can be found on the Player CP tab).
Losers are responsible for confirming the match result on Gatherling in a timely manner (Match confirmation can be found on the Player CP tab)
Any concerns about registration, match reporting, or player behavior should be addressed via Direct Message through Discord to one of the League Moderators.
Scouting opponents is prohibited. While players are welcome to watch other matches (especially if they have completed all of their league matches), players should not join matches with players they have watched. In practice, this means:
You should not respond to a PWL call of a player you have observed
If you use the @PWL tag to locate an opponent, and a player you have observed responds, you are obligated to inform them that you have seen their deck. You may then either offer to share your archetype and proceed with the match or give them the option to seek a different opponent.
Instances of scouting abuse are punishable by league suspension or banning, in the case of multiple complaints.
Any concerns about inappropriate scouting or player behavior should be addressed via Direct Message through Discord to one of the League Moderators.
League standings are determined by your number of wins, followed by the following tiebreakers
Breaker 1: Opponents' Match Win Percentage
Breaker 2: Player's Match Win Percentage
Breaker 3: Opponents' Game Win Percentage
At the end of the month, the top 8 players by ranking enter a single-elimination bracket to decide the League Champion.
Please note:
Players must use the deck they played for the League.
Decklists are open for playoffs
The higher seeded player chooses play or draw. If you are the lower seeded player, and you win the roll, you must ask the higher seeded player what their preference is and choose the appropriate option.
Playoffs should be played over a 10-day period using the following schedule:
Day 1: All qualifying players are notified
Days1-2: All qualifying players
Confirm they are able to participate.
Day 2: Pairings are posted.
Players who failed to confirm participation will be dropped and replaced by the next highest ranking player.
Any byes created by dropped players are assigned in order of playoff seeding.
Days 3-5: Round 1
Days 6-8: Round 2
Days 9-10: Round 3
Moderators can offer round extensions on a case-by-case basis if Moderators are contacted in advance, and the player's opponent agrees to the extension
