Getting Started with the CPS

Getting started with the Community Premodern Series takes a bit of set up. This page is designed to help guide you through the process.  Remeber, to participate in the CPS you need

Setting Up MTGO

All Community Premodern Series events are hosted on Magic: the Gathering Online.

To download MTGO, visit mtgo.com

For help getting started, check out the official New Player Guide

Note: Although MTGO is free to download, you will need to upgrade to a full account to participate in our CPS events.  Currently, the upgrade fee is $4.99 (USD).

Accessing Cards for MTGO

Once you've set up your MTGO account, you'll need cards.  While there are many ways to access cards for MTGO, Cardhoarder is the official sponsor of the Community Premodern Series.  While many players choose to purchase cards directly from online retailers, others choose to use card loan programs to access a wider range of cards for a small weekly fee.

Building Decks in MTGO

As MTGO does not have official Premodern support, Decks should be created in the Freeform section of the Collection tab.

Setting Up Gatherling

All CPS events are organized on Gatherling, which is where you'll find upcoming and active events across a range of formats.  Creating a Gatherling account enables you to register for events, record your match results, and track your performance.

To register, visit Gatherling and click "Need to Register?"

Once you've created an account, you are now able to join events.  Active and Upcoming Events are listed on the left side of the homepage.

Active and Upcoming Events can also be found by clicking the Player CP tab.

Once you've joined an event, you'll be prompted to enter your deck list.

Setting Up Discord

Discord is a popular way for communities to engage in synchronous and asynchronous communication through text, voice, and video chat.

Create an account at Discord.

Joining the CPS Discord

All CPS events are managed via dedicated channels on the Magic Online Society Discord.
